CNA Supports National Chess Champions With Visit To Washington D.C.

CHICAGO, June 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Earlier this year, Chicago's Earle STEM Academy chess team's five-member, all-girls group won the championship in the All-Girls National Chess Tournament. After their win, U.S. Rep. Danny K. Davis made a promise to the team that he would coordinate a visit to Washington D.C., including a visit to the White House. Davis' promise and the students' dreams of visiting the White House were fulfilled today.

Earle STEM Academy's National Championship Chess Team today visited the White House.

The chess team was able to visit Washington D.C. thanks to generous support from Congressman Davis, CNA, Mr. Tom Needham, Mayor Emanuel and President Obama.

"We're proud to celebrate and support the students' and teachers' accomplishments and their well-deserved trip to our nation's capital," said Sarah Pang, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Community Involvement. "The chess team hails from the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago and they are inspiring young men and women to achieve their dreams through hard work and dedication."

The Earle STEM Academy chess team is coached by math teacher Mr. Joseph Ocol.
